O'Reilly's Pub and Grill - Dinner

Shepherd's Pie ($12.00)
Newton now has an honest to goodness pub. My shepherd pie had lots of ground beef, peas and onions, topped with evidently home mashed potatoes with melted REAL cheddar cheese on top. It looked like something I would make at home.. and very satisfying. The meals come with a salad of iceberg lettuce with thick slices of onions and sweet red peppers. It looked like a home-made salad. I ordered a dessert of apple crisp. The apples had large slices (with skin as I prefer) with a buttery crisp along a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This place looks like a true pub that fell out of the 1950s. Everything is.. and looks home-made. No trendy menu here.. just a traditional pub food. They even have "Bangers and Mash!" There is a wide selection of 1/2 pound burgers and some meal salads.. all reasonably priced. O'Reilly's is on lower Spring Street in Newton next to G&S, in what used to be Flapjacks (plus a lot of other places.) Check out this place for real good and satisfying pub food, not a bar trying to be a restaurant. They are opened for lunch and dinner.. and they do deliver. I can't wait to go back and try their pulled pork on cornbread.

I was there on 11/8 and it was great. We had burgers or the pulled pork sandwich and they were all well cooked. Service was friendly, but a little slow, considering the place was not full; you may need to tell your server if you have a movie or show to go to after dinner.

Thank God for O'Reilly's Pub & Grill! This restaurant location has been wasted space for too long. When Flapjacks closed it's door many years ago, it was not a disappointment. As soon as you walked in, you wanted to walk out. Then Daphne's came in with its inviting sign. Only, the inside was still the horrifying Flapjacks. 2 young guys have finally turned it around. Gutting the place and producing a high quality place with loads of seating. Restoring the old wood floors to their original beauty and making it a place you want to frequent. I ate there for the first time last night, and I was so pleased to see a "NEW" place to eat n hang. They have multiple plasma tv's on the wall and a stage area for bands, djs and soon, karaoke will start on Tuesdays with the finest of kj's Karaoke Cat. I am very excited about the new place and guarantee you will want to come back again when you go. Menu was modestly priced for today's economy and the food was fantastic! Don't be afraid to enter, its a whole new world inside!

A great Irish pub feel. Their burgers were fantastic as well, and the place is beautiful. It was unusual to find such an authentic irish pub outside of new york city. but when you walk in to O'Reillys, you just want to hang out. Me and my wife will be back this weekend to see Snakeoil Willy, and try the pulled pork sandwich!
